Amazon Prime Video India revealed on Tuesday that Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt has been enlisted as the executive producer for the upcoming crime series "Poacher," set to premiere on February 23. Created by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Richie Mehta, the series boasts a stellar cast including Nimisha Sajayan, Roshan Mathew, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya in lead roles.
"Poacher," an investigative crime series based on true events, sheds light on the issue of ivory poaching in India. With its release scheduled in Malayalam, Hindi, and English, the show aims to merge environmental conservation with entertainment, emphasizing the perils of illegal poaching. Alia Bhatt, who made her producer debut with the 2022 Netflix India film "Darlings," expressed her enthusiasm for the project, highlighting its personal significance and the profound impact of Richie Mehta's storytelling.
She said that she was moved by the issue. “The storytelling genuinely moved me, especially knowing it's based on true events, that shed light on brutal crimes occurring in our forests. I am confident Poacher will serve as an eye-opener, delivering a powerful message to be more compassionate and considerate towards all living beings. It's a call to embrace coexistence and I am genuinely thrilled to contribute to this narrative," Alia said.
